Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into proximity, usually no more than a few inches.

Using NFC tagging technology, the user can download new washing programs such as Wool, Baby Care and Cold Wash. Then, they can then apply these programs simply by touching their smartphone to the NFC Tag On symbol on the washing machine.
