Ariens Company has been notified by LCT Engines (Liquid Combustion Technology) that they have identi-
fied that there is a missing safety shield on a limited number of engines used on Ariens Sno-Tek™ Sno
Thros®. This condition only exists on electric start equipped winter engines with the LCT serial number
LCT has released the enclosed Technical Service Bulletin which identifies the issue, and also explains
what to do if a machine displays this defect. Please read the enclosed Bulletin, and inspect all 920402 and
920403 Sno-Tek models in your inventory per the instructions in the Bulletin.
If it is determined the proper shielding is not present, please contact LCT USA customer service at
800-552-8094 and a service kit will be provided to correct the issue.
When contacting LCT USA customer service please have the following information available: Ariens prod-
uct model and serial numbers and LCT engine model and serial numbers.
Cost of kit and installation is covered by LCT. Dealers should contact LCT USA customer service at
800-552-8094 for information on any warranty claims.

5. Remove belt finger by removing cap

screws mounting belt finger to engine
(Figure 19 or 20).

6. Remove attachment drive belt from

engine sheave (it may be necessary to
turn engine sheave using recoil starter
handle).

IMPORTANT:

To avoid bending bottom cover,

when tipping unit apart, support handlebars
firmly or tip unit up on housing and remove
bottom cover by removing six cap screws
before separating unit.

7. Support the frame and housing.
8. Remove hex bolts securing housing to

frame (two on each side). Tip housing
and frame apart on pivot pin.

9. Remove attachment drive belt from

attachment pulley (hold brake away from
belt).

Replace Attachment Drive Belt

1. Place new belt onto attachment pulley.

NOTE:

Holding down the attachment clutch

lever will make it easier to reconnect the
housing and frame.

2. Tip housing and frame back together

and secure with hex bolts.

3. Place belt onto engine sheave.
4. Replace belt finger.

IMPORTANT:

With the clutch lever engaged,

the belt finger located opposite the belt idler
must be less than 1/8 in. (3,2 mm) from the
belt, but not touching the belt, or belt
grabbing may occur causing impeller to rotate
while the attachment clutch is disengaged
(Figure 20).

5. Adjust clutch perAttachment

6. Replace chute crank and secure with

7. Run in the attachment belt. See Run-in

8. Replace belt cover and tighten

hardware.

CAUTION:

Always support the unit

frame and housing when loosening
the cap screws holding them
together. Never loosen cap screws
while unit is in service position.
